Andrea Juan

Andrea Juan, an Argentine artist whose work has focused on Antarctica and scientific research related to climate change since 2004. After the ice shelf melted and caused important changes in the Antarctic glaciers, a surprisingly large number of new species were discovered. An unknown possibility and a new world of life have emerged, which is the topic of her New Species (2011) series. These amazing imageries depict newly discovered ecosystems. In the interesting scene, the shape of the ice flash occupies an incalculable environment and remains unnoticed under the ice.

The other series of Andrea, New Eden (2012), composed with fabric installations and performances. The event took place in Antarctica, using large neon-colored mesh flows through the vast surface of ice without touching the ground. The translucent material projects transparent shadows in the highly reflective area that is covered by pink and orange light. Looking like soft and delicate creatures, pure mesh structures move between the texture of the ice on the land and the shape of the clouds in the sky, while changing the perception of the icy landscape.
